If you happen to walk past a wall with graffiti on it advertising a handyman available 365 days a year, 24 hours a day for the affordable price of 5 yen, you might be just about to meet a god. A delivery god, to be exact, but a god nonetheless.
Meet Yato, a man who looks like any normal guy, if on the poor side. In truth. he is actually a god of calamity and goes by many different names. Unfortunately, because of his obscurity, he has to live in poverty, getting by each day with the meager amount of money he gets from his jobs. Nevertheless, he still goes on with his life, dreaming of the day when he finally becomes rich and can fulfill his own desires.
To Yato, each day is full of possibilities. While he takes his work seriously, he would never stop chasing after his initial dream – to be rich, famous, adored and with many followers by his side. However, he can be rather lazy, and this side of his may irritate others. But Yato just makes a cute face to cover up his shortcomings.
While Yato may be a god of calamity, his past cannot be revived as long as he is surrounded by the people who truly care for him, his faults notwithstanding. Yato’s new bonds are deep, deep enough to overcome any dark temptation.
So if you need someone to fix your toilet bowl or help carry your groceries, look no further than the writing on the wall. The Grand God Yato is on the job... hopefully.
