Winry Rockbell is one of the supporting protagonists featured in Hiromu Arakawa's manga series Fullmetal Alchemist and its anime adaptations by the studio Bones.
The automail mechanic is best known for her performances in r/anime's Best Girl Contest, due to being the most recognizable female character of MyAnimeList's highest rated series. She is a strong middle-tier contestant, having reached at least Round 4 in all of her appearances. Winry gained a major boost in strength in 2019's Best Girl 6, securing the highest-ever seed (#6) and scoring a series of upsets that involved taking down perennial favorites Ryuuko, Holo, and Aqua en route to her runner-up finish, where she lost to Sword Art Online main girl Asuna Yuuki.
In r/anime's Best Couples / Ships tournament, she formed a powerful duo together with her love interest Edward Elric. However, Edward's cursed status seems to leak into this contest too, as the pair keeps falling short of the title in spite of making several appearances in the top 8. The other FMA couple Roy Mustang x Riza Hawkeye winning the fourth contest doesn't help their chances either.
Despite Fullmetal Alchemist's generally positive reception among the anime community, the series is primarily a male-oriented setting. As such, Winry is only a minnow in the defunct 2channel and Anizone contests, and is essentially non-existent in ISML and Bilibili Moe.
