Spike Spiegel is the main protagonist and the titular character of Sunrise's original anime series Cowboy Bebop, directed by Shinichiro Watanabe.
The space cowboy is widely regarded as one of the best anime protagonists hailing from one of the most beloved anime classics of all time. He is a powerhouse in the Western forums of r/anime, being one of the only few characters from the 20th century to perform well in the contest -- his best performances include reaching the semi-finals in Best Character 2, and winning Best Guy 3 in 2017. Spike is also the first human adult anime character to become a champion in any major contest.
