Siesta (Tanmoshi)

Siesta is the main heroine of The Detective is Already Dead (or Tanmoshi for short), a light novel series written by Nigojuu with illustrations by Umibozu. She is the "dead detective" that the title refers to, but one of the story's main plots shows her past adventures with the main character / partner-in-crime Kimihiko Kimizuka, and the "mysteries" surrounding her eventual demise. Siesta's appearance is mostly identified by her "XII" hair clip, and her likeness is often compared to Origami Tobiichi, a white-haired heroine from another light novel series.

Siesta is a very popular waifu character when it comes to fan reception as of late. Her popularity is most evident in Japan where she placed 4th in the "Female Characters" category of Konorano's 2021 edition (later rising to #2 in 2022). This was quickly followed by an anime adaptation which was released in the Summer 2021 season. However, the anime was largely met with negative reception among fans, especially in Western sites such as Reddit where it was criticized for its poor, sloppy adaptation with little regard for faithfulness. Indeed, the show was only watched for its waifus -- and the cameos of Hololive personalities Fubuki and Matsuri.
