Rimuru Tempest is the main protagonist of the isekai web novel and light novel series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. He was originally known as Satoru Mikami, a middle-aged Japanese salaryman living a mostly uneventful life, before he was murdered and reincarnated as the titular slime in a fantasy world. As Rimuru, he founded his own country and became one of the most powerful people in the world.
Rimuru is genderless because of his ability to shapeshift, but he typically assumes the form of an androgynous blue-haired human, which is based on the appearance of female character Shizue Izawa. He is also performed by voice actresses, further contributing to the slime's highly feminine appearance. However, in several character tournaments, Rimuru is entered as a male competitor because he uses male pronouns to refer to himself, and the fact that he was a man in his previous life.

The series has enjoyed considerable success in East Asia as one of the most popular isekai stories. As a main character from the Fall 2018 anime season, Rimuru managed to ascend into ISML's pantheon in just one year, mirroring his feat in the novels where he quickly rose as a ruler of his own country. Besides being overpowered, the slime has the advantage of having a cute, highly feminine appearance that stands out in the tournament's male roster (although technically he is not a trap).
Rimuru immediately became a top contender to win ISML 2019 after winning the Aquamarine pendant, and then led the regular season for four more periods until he suffered two losses against KyoAni protagonists - Tomoya Okazaki in Emerald 2, and Yuuta Togashi in Diamond 3 (last regular season match). His loss in Diamond resulted in him being seeded 7th in the playoffs, since the top 6 seeds are reserved for those who won 3 matches in that period. Nevertheless, that didn't stop him as he comfortably defeated Rintarou Okabe in the last 16, and pulled an upset win over the undefeated Levi Ackerman in the quarter-finals. The slime then overcame Tomoya in their rematch at semi-finals, before defeating top seed and fellow newcomer Sakuta Azusagawa by 658 votes to claim the year's Lapis Scepter. Rimuru's victory makes him the first genderless ISML champion and the 3rd male competitor to win in his debut (after Lelouch and Kirito in the male exhibitions).

Tournament of Champions[]
Rimuru is a middle-tier competitor in ISML's Tournament of Champions, on par with Sora and Accelerator. In his first entry at 2020 he finished 5th with 3 wins against Accel and bottom feeders Koro-sensei and Hideyoshi. In 2021 the slime improved to a 4-3 record, beating the same opponents as before. His additional win came from inflicting Miyuki Shirogane's first ever loss in ISML. However, Rimuru still has a long way to contend for the title, since he is yet to beat Sora, Hachiman, and Sakuta.
