After being banned for 8 years, Mio makes her return in [[ISML 2019]], where she demonstrated that the presence of K-ON is still going strong, even after nearly a decade has passed since the last anime adaptation was released. In that year, she easily reached the playoffs, losing to [[Emilia]] in the Round of 16.

Mio Akiyama is a main protagonist featured in Kakifly's manga K-ON! and its anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation.  Like her fellow members of her band Houkago Tea Time, Mio is named after P-Model member Katsuhiko Akiyama, and is based on The Beatles' bassist and singer-songwriter Paul McCartney.

Despite Mio having a generally positive reception in r/anime, in Best Girl Contests she's easily in the middle tiers like most K-On girls. Note that no Houkago member has made it into Best Girl's Round of 16, and only her fellow bandmate has reached Best Character's Round of 16 so far.

After being banned for 8 years, Mio makes her return in ISML 2019, where she demonstrated that the presence of K-ON is still going strong, even after nearly a decade has passed since the last anime adaptation was released. In that year, she easily reached the playoffs, losing to Emilia in the Round of 16.
