Megumi Katou is a main protagonist and the titular heroine of Fumiaki Maruto's light novel series Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, and its anime adaptation by the studio A-1 Pictures.
Megumi traditionally enjoys strong support in contests held in China and Japan, and is weak in the Western countries. This is best exemplified with her performance in the Bilibili Moe contests, reaching the last eight in 2015, and would've won the 2017 edition if it weren't for a certain girl who's backed by a massive campaign spoiled her championhip dreams in the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Megumi is a major force in International Saimoe League, winning a seasonal diadem in 2015 and a necklace in 2017. She controversially won the 2017 Tiara because of a certain Chinese group admitting to using bots to fix the outcome of the finals match in her favor. And the
best/worst part? No one was punished for it, and the botters got away scot-free.
Megumi is a minnow (as expected) in the Western-majority voters of r/anime's Best Girl Contest, simply because Saekano isn't popular enough on r/anime.
