Keke Tang is a character from Love Live! Superstar!!, the fourth installment of the Love Live! idol franchise. Hailing from Shanghai, China, Keke is a member of the school idol group Liella!, and her main attribute is "pure". The idol's given name is a loanword of "cocoa" in Mandarin.

Keke's rap in season 1, episode 10 |
Keke first appeared in ISML 2021's summer seasonal and quickly gained a large following because of her Chinese nationality and voice actress (who also hails from Shanghai), which is supported by ISML having a very active Chinese fanbase (other countries notwithstanding). She easily won the diadem round over her closest competitor Siesta; in the process, she brought home Love Live!'s first-ever ISML award after 8 years of its existence. Unfortunately, her band-mates could not capitalize on her immediate success; Kanon Shibuya came one win short of qualifying for the 2021 summer diadem round, while Chisato Arashi lost all of her group stage matches in the Fall seasonal. Thus, Keke can be considered the exception to ISML's "Idol Curse" — the inability of idol girls to win awards, or even last long in the regular season despite their obvious moe traits and dedicated following.
Keke was then seeded 1st in the seasonal playoffs and ultimately won that year's newly-purposed Divine Circlet by defeating Ai Haibara in the final, a girl whose Chinese online fan group gained notoriety for successfully overturning her previous match after asking the ISML staff for a recount (with valid proof). Ironically, the idol actually had fewer votes than Haibara among mainland Chinese voters, and had to rely on her majority votes in other countries (particularly Hong Kong, South Korea, USA, and Japan) in order to secure the win.[1] By winning the 2021 divine circlet / seasonal league, Keke is automatically qualified for ISML 2022's main tournament, with some users in the Chinese ISML Tieba forum and Bilibili already expecting her as a powerhouse, or even a potential tiara contender like Elaina in 2021.[2][3]

- ↑ in accordance to ISML organizers' intention to make the seasonal contest be more significant by having their own "yearly award", analogous to winning the Tiara and Scepter.
