Seasonal & Exhibition

ISML 2021 seasonal contests, exhibition tournaments, and other unsorted exhibition matches.

Female Seasonals[edit | edit source]

For this edition, the seasonal contest was renamed the "Nova League", with males also participating for the first time. The Divine Circlet and Divine Crown were reworked into serving as a "grand prize" awarded to the the overall seasonal champion from each gender.

Rules and Format[edit | edit source]

Characters who appeared in an anime released within 2021 will be assigned to their respective seasonal contest based on the following release dates:

  • Winter: January 1- March 31
  • Spring: April 1 - June 30
  • Summer: July 1 - September 30
  • Fall: October 1 - December 8*
  • Anime releases usually refer to TV series broadcast on-air. For films, OVA and ONA releases, they are only considered if they are "released to multiple countries" or if the company "started selling Blu-rays/DVDs to the public" within the relevant period of time.
  • Characters appearing in multiple cours / seasons may be nominated for every eligible seasonal contest, but once they qualify for a certain seasonal they CANNOT be nominated for that year's other seasonal contests again.
Female Selections & Format
Nomination Round:

Top 30+ eligible females with the most nomination votes will qualify for their respective seasonal contest.

  • For Winter and Spring, these characters will be chosen from the main nomination round. Selection for the seasonal tournament will take priority, which means that characters who appeared in past ISML editions may qualify here even though some voters intended them to compete the main tournament. Maglor (the main contest runner) claims this is intended to "increase the level of competition" in the seasonal contests.
    • Once all slots are filled, the remaining girls may qualify for the main tournament instead.
    • If last place is tied, they will qualify together.
    • Maximum of 3 characters per anime can enter the seasonals. 4th and below will be assigned to the main tournament instead.
  • Summer and Fall each have their own nomination rounds, but in order to be eligible characters must not appear in other ISML matches for this year.
    • Nomination dates: Summer: 10/01 - 10/08; Fall: 12/01 - 12/08
    • 12 entries
    • Minimum 2 male and 2 female
    • Must have at least 3 anime series.
    • Max 3 characters per series / franchise.

Jewelry Exhibitions Poster Contest[edit | edit source]

For this year, all posters of the jewelry exhibitions will be selected from user submissions, likely as a response to last year's fan-made posters for the gem awards made by users from the Chinese ISML Tieba forum. This section will display all female and male exhibition gem entries from each period.

ISML Virtual YouTuber Exhibitions[edit | edit source]

Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, a new form of entertainment has risen in popularity on the internet --- Virtual YouTubers. These streaming personalities mostly appear as anime girl avatars which are controlled and voiced real-time by real people. Originating in Japan, the V-Tuber scene has seen the establishment of several groups, with Hololive and Nijisanji the most well-known examples. And you bet your mudaf**ing donations this tournament is going to hold a contest to decide who's the cutest most popular personality of them all.

A V-Tuber exhibition contest was proposed by a member through the official Discord server last year, but was rejected due to schedule constraints and some controversies happening at the time. However, the contest was eventually confirmed to be held this year. Citation needed.
