Hitagi Senjougahara is a main character featured in Nisio Isin's light novel Bakemonogatari and its anime adaptation by Shaft, and a primary character in the Monogatari series as a whole. She is the series' most successful female representative.
Senjougahara is a powerhouse in r/anime's Best Girl Contest, but is notorious for losing in the semi-finals every time. A reddit user even followed through his promise by giving himself a swirlie (aka dunking his face in the toilet and then flushing it), because he failed a bet that Senjougahara would make the finals of Best Girl 2. Hitagi eventually had to settle for the Best Character title which she won in 2016.
The crab-possessed girl also claimed another championship way back before r/anime contests existed. That win was the very last edition of Korea Best Moe Tournament.
Meanwhile, Hitagi is one of the weaker mid-tier contestants in International Saimoe League, where the most she can achieve was a round 1 playoffs appearance in two separate occasions. She also appeared in all four instances of China's Bilibili Moe contests, but the farthest she can go was in the Round of 24 stage in 2016.
Hitagi shares a rivalry with Steins;Gate heroine Kurisu Makise, having met three times in total. Two of them were in the finals of KBM and Best Character, in which the crab won both matches. The other one was a semi-final loss in Best Girl 1.
