Aoi Miyamori is the main protagonist of Shirobako, an 2014 original anime series produced by the studio P.A. Works. She is one of five high school friends who made a promise to create their own anime together. Miyamori works as an assistant in the Musashi Animation studio with her animator friend Ema Yasuhara; during her employment she has to contend with the harsh and stressful realities of the animation industry.
The anime is generally well-regarded by audiences and is usually cited as one of the best P.A. Works productions, but its niche popularity continually holds the characters back from performing well in the saimoe tournaments. Not that it matters to them anyway. Aoi has made one ISML appearance in 2016, where she was quickly eliminated after 3 matches. In r/anime's Best Girl Contest, the assistant made her highest seed and best finish in Best Girl 3, reaching the fourth round as a 57th seed.
