The first edition of Aniplus Character Tournament was held from 2013 in the South Korean distributor and website Aniplus.tv. The tournament was contested between characters who have appeared in anime shows and movies released by Aniplus within the year 2012. The championship match was won by Hyouka's Houtarou Oreki -- the only male contestant who reached the elite eight bracket stage -- after he defeated Mashiro Shiina from Sakurasou. Oreki's love interest Eru Chitanda finished third, while Fate's Saber placed fourth.
