"Because sometimes a poll isn't just good enough" -slogan
AnimeBracket is a website created by Matt Hackmann. The site most notably hosts /r/Anime's Three Major Contests (Best Girl, Guy, and Character) as well as a variety of relatively minor contests held on the subreddit.
Voters will need to register a reddit account in order to vote on the website. Depending on the host, a contest may implement ReCAPTCHA to prevent bots, and a minimum age restriction limit for reddit accounts to prevent sockpuppets.

Tournament Format[edit | edit source]
All tournaments made in AnimeBracket follow this format:
1. Nomination Stage - this is where you enter characters that you want to compete in the contest. Before nominating, you need to read AND follow a set of rules determined by the tournament's host. After that, you will be sent to a nomination screen, in which you enter a [Name], its [Source Field], and the [Image Link].
- When typing down a name, there wil appear a drop-down menu that may help you find the desired character quickly. Selecting a character from the drop-down menu instantly fills the corrpesponding image link, leaving you only the source to fill.
- Source field means the anime / cartoon / whatever show the character comes from. Note that the "Source Field" name can be modified by the tournament host.
- The Image link is the URL of the character's picture. It is recommended to use images that are horizontally long, or pictures from the website MyAnimeList (or other related sites). Do not use very small images and vertically long images.
- Do not use images depicting graphic violence and explicit nudity and pornography. They will be banned.
2. Elimination stage - All nominees are split into multiple groups depending on the host's choice. In each group, you select the contestants you want to proceed in the main bracket. All nominations are equally weighted, and there is no limit of how many nominees you choose in each group.
- Contestants are seeded based on adjusted votes: the number of votes relative to the amount of voters who participated in the contestant's respective round.
3. Main bracket - Single-elimination tournament.
r/anime Contest Rules[edit | edit source]
Best Girl[edit | edit source]
Held from the beginning of June until July, this month-long summertime event is the oldest, biggest, saltiest, and most prestigious contest ever held in /r/anime. Expect a lot of "shit taste" and "show/recency bias" claims thrown around.
An asterisk(*) denotes that the player would go on to win the following Best Character contest, banning her from future Best Girl Contests.

Best Character[edit | edit source]
Mixed-gender contest traditionally held in the Fall season (October-November). Perceptions may vary: it's either the greatest honor an anime character can achieve, or a glorified "Consolation Prize" for those who really can't win Best Girl/Guy no matter what.
Starting from 2016 onwards, all Best Character winners will be banned from competing in the Best Girl/Guy Contests.
